Hey! You! Yes, you!
« on: Wednesday, Jan 18, 2012 @ 03:54 PM PST »

So, you're awesome. Thoughts? Comments? Other awesome people of note? I think Sal's pretty awesome, he was a big part of getting me into TF2.

We should probably subdivide the forums a bit more, which I'm sure is in the works, but in the mean time....

What got you into TF2? I was on the TF2 subreddit for a long time, and I've always been watching casts and games cause the game's always excited me. I'd been working up to putting together a computer for a while, and when I finally did, playing TF2 is the first thing I did. I've been putting in ridiculous hours ever since. (99 Hours in the past 2 weeks as of right now :3 )

I started playing in the summer of 08 after I received the Orange Box for Christmas in 07. I wasn't able to find any servers I could connect to for some reason. I played my first game of TF2 on The Rabbit Hole. (Which I own now)

My favorite player is a tie between Mackey and ggglygy. Those guys are crazy.
Awesome people outside of eXtv: Nahanni, bug.

Buying orange box made me play TF2, and then I couldn't quit. Got into 6v6 one year later or so.

I played TFC somewhat competitively in college (sniper, mainly... pub engineer).  I actually got into TF2 really late, didn't even know it existed until summer of 2008.  The day I heard about it I bought Orange Box at GameStop and so it began.  2400 hours later it's still awesome.

I bought L4D1 after watching my roommate play it circa Spring 2009. That's when I first heard of Steam. Bought the Orange Box soon after because TF2 was so fun. Played backburner Pyro for a year in a pub community, then I switched to (casual) competitive TF2. Played my first ESEA season early 2011.

I pretty much got started playing TF2 from a friend of mine who constantly begged me to play. That was like... 4, 4.5 years from now.

Been playing since the free to play weekend a couple weeks before the mac update (or maybe it was free because of mac update IDK)

Around 1 year and 8 months or so.

Pub player all the way up to watching the LAN event this past summer, joined eXtv, now going to play UGC HL team this season.

Probably won't ever play 6's competitively, not my style.

I purchased Orange Box in December of '07 and got hooked on TF2 immediately.  I've only played Highlander in league play, but would like to get some more experience with 6's.  I played in the first Highlander tournament that Valve pimped with ETF2L, played in UGC last season and I'm playing in the upcoming Season 6.

A lot has changed since I got started, but this is still one of the most fun FPSers I've played.

I bought the Orange box for Half Life, I stayed for TF2.

We should definitely not divide the forums up any time soon, at the moment it's completely unnecessary, with only two threads on the board and less then 20 current active posters it would just make the forum look even emptier and make people have to click around to find what little content we currently have here! No chance of anyone sticking around to make the content themselves. Trust me until we've got ourselves a decent sized regular user base 1 main forum is all we need.  :)

Well that might be alleviated if the link on the main page went to the actual forums ;)

Yeah, we really need to fix that.

Also, I think we need a blog post about the forums. That would really bring in a bunch of new members IMHO.

Furthermore, if we have forum events, and we promote them, more people will come.

I don't think I'm awesome.  Alls I do is make videos of other people being awesome.

If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have the 600+ hours I have on TF2 and wouldn't have built a gaming PC so I could play TF2. I think you're pretty swell  ;)

We can do giveaways and stuff like that. If anyone wants to get the ball rolling, I got some Tribes Ascend beta keys I don't need :3

My friend was playing the Beta back when we were in college. I saw it and liked the style and the dynamic game style. I got it with the Orange Box pretty much as soon as it released.

I actually bought TF2 for xbox 360, back when it was the same as the PC version, so it didn't matter. I soon learned about the extra weapons you could get from watching a friend play the PC version, a soon bought a computer good enough to run it and downloaded TF2 first. 2000+ hours later and it's history!
