At least a portion of Capcom’s plans for Downloadable Content was revealed in this Official Capcom Blog post. “Shadow Mode” echoes the Final Boss of Zelda 2 in which Link faces off against the Shadow version of himself. In regards to Marvel vs Capcom 3, Shadow Mode will enable players to play against “Shadow Mode” versions of famous players and Capcom team members controlled by the game’s Artificial Intelligence.

In the introductory post by Capcom’s blog writer Snow Infernus, it is revealed that the first Shadow Mode pack will contain teams that mirror the character selection and play style of  game producer, Ryota Niitsuma, Assistant Producer Akihito Kadowaki and an unnamed Quality Assurance team leader.

Pricing is not discussed but chances are that the first pack featuring Capcom Employee’s will probably be released for free sometime in March in order to show off the mode and flexibility of the AI.

The release of a “Shadow Daigo” seems to be an inevitability but thus far is unannounced. Utilizing the personalities of professional players is a logical conclusion to this technology and will surely be a huge boost to the Fighting scene. Charging players to download virtual opponents from Capcom is unlikely, but hopefully Fighting enthusiasts will jump at the chance to play Shadow versions of their favorite players.

A portion of the DLC revenue will surely be returned to those players mimic’d by the AI which will be a nice bonus alongside the added eXposure Pro-Fighters will get with casual fighting fans.
